What Defines the Epidote Group
Calcium-aluminum silicates that form during metamorphism. The epidote group includes pistachio-green epidote and red piemontite. Zoisite produces three dramatically different gem varieties: blue-violet tanzanite, pink thulite, and green anyolite (ruby zoisite). All form through the transformation of existing rocks under heat and pressure.
