What Defines the Halides Group

Minerals formed from halogen elements (fluorine, chlorine) bonding with metals. Fluorite (CaF₂) is the definitive member, famous for its cubic crystals and fluorescence (a property literally named after it). Blue halite is ordinary table salt colored by millions of years of natural radiation.
